State Bank of India has started recruitment practice for the most anticipated examination of the banking sector ie SBI Po. Notification for 2000 posts of Probationary Officer.

SBI PO Selection Process 2018:-

The selection for Probationary Officers will be done through a three-tiered process:

  • Phase-I: Preliminary Examination
  • Phase–II: Main Examination
  • Phase–III: Group Exercises & Interview

SBI PO Exam Pattern:- (Preliminary And Mains)

Here we are providing final year examination patterns. All applicants can check the exam pattern here. It may be possible that the State Bank of India will change the examination pattern 2018, so we request all the candidates to be in touch with us with the latest updates.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination: Initial Examination involving objective examination for 100 marks will be conducted online. In the test, 3 vols (with a different time for each segment) will be as follows:


SBI PO Pre Exam Pattern:- This will be of Qualifying Nature & consists of Total 100 Marks & Consists of 100 Questions.

The main examination will include 200 marks for objective exams and descriptive examination for 50 marks. Both objective and descriptive tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer the descriptive examination by typing on the computer. Objective testing will be completed immediately after the objective examination.

► Online written exam for Probationary Officer will have consisted of 200 marks.
► Total Time Duration of the exam is 03:00 hours (180 minutes).

Descriptive Test:- The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay)

Note: – Descriptive test will be online. Candidates will have to answer the descriptive examination by typing on the computer. Immediately after the objective test, descriptive tests will be administered.

There will be a penalty for wrong answers in the objective test. For every question that has been answered incorrectly by the candidate, one-fourth of the points given for that question will be deducted as a penalty for coming to the right mark. If any question is left blank, then no answer is given. There will be no penalty for that question.

Phase–III: Group Exercises (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)

Candidates qualifying for GE under ‘OBC’ category and for the interview will be required to submit OBC certificate containing ‘ifying non-creamy layer’ clause. Candidates who do not submit the OBC certificate containing the certificate ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ clause and those who request the interview under the general category will not be entertained.


The final selection will not be added to prepare the final merit list for selection in the initial examination (Phase-I). Mainly, the marks obtained in the main examination (Phase-II) will be in both objective test and descriptive examination. To prepare the final merit list, added for GE and points obtained in Interview (Phase-III). Candidates must obtain different qualifications in both Stage II and Phase-III. The marks obtained by the candidates in the main examination (from 250 points) are changed from group to 75 and the number of points secured in group practice and interview (25 marks out of 50) is changed from 25. Final eligibility list comes after final qualification. Main examination and group practice and interview point out of 100 Selection will be done from candidates in the top merit ranks in each category. The results of the main examination and the candidates who qualified for group exercise and interview were final, the final selection list would be made available on the bank’s website.

State Bank of India will conduct online written examination for the recruitment of Probationary Officer. As the year passes, the level of competition for the banking examination becomes difficult. Apart from this, the pattern is also changing. Candidates are now wandering around “What will happen in the pre-examination, what is the level of pre-examination, what kind of question will be asked? Primary Examination: – The level of questions asked by English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude will be easier than the main exam. The examination is similar to the syllabus bank exam or IBPS exam. As SBI has already announced that 10 Times Candidates will be called for the Main Examination. Therefore, in the pre-examination, SBI clerk level or very high-level questions can be asked but not like the PO examination.

Main examination: – SBI PO main exam will normally be similar to previous year’s PO examination. The level of difficulty will be high. There will be more time-consuming questions. Reasoning will be high because it comes in the SBI Po Examination. Therefore only complete preparation and practice will be required because applicants will have different positions and lakh applications.


Reasoning: – Comprehensive Reasoning, Wayne Diagram, Number Series, Coding and D-Coding, Problem Solving Techniques, Statement and Conclusion Type Questions, Arithmetic Arguments, Arithmetic Number Chain, Non-Verbal Series, Scientologist Reasoning, Seating Arrangements, Decision-Making pay attention. , Input and output, logical logic. Non-verbal Reasoning Questions can be asked in the examination.

English Language: – Note mainly on topics such as synonyms, inverse, sentence error, sentence correction, fill the vacancies, sentence system/word system, understanding and the close test cannot be anything beyond these topics, etc. Wise will be long.

DI and quantitative eligibility: – Questions will be asked for simplification, number series, quadratic equation average, percent, time and work, area, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and speed, investment, HCF LCM, problems on eras, etc. Bar graph, illustrated graph, pie chart Data interpretation is the section to focus on.

General Awareness: – Questions from Indian Current Events, Banking, General Science, General Knowledge will be asked. The focus will be mainly on the current affairs of national and international news, important dates, current science, technology, sports and culture, and the banking sector. Questions from marketing will also be in sufficient quantity to test your knowledge. SBI POs are important topics of general awareness:

  • Current Affairs (National and International)
  • Major Financial / Economic News
  • Budget and Five Year Plans
  • Sports
  • Books and Authors
  • Awards and Honors
  • Science – Inventions and Discoveries
  • Abbreviations
  • Important Days
  • International and National Organizations are some related topics

Computer Awareness: – Computer Basic, Computer Organization, Computer Generation, Input and Output Devices, Shortcuts and Basic Knowledge MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Memory Orientation, Internet, LAN, Vans, Modem, Computer Compact, Modern Day Technology Remember short cut tricks of MS Word, MS Excel, and computer cipher.

Descriptive Test: – This test will be of qualifying type and will be the English language test. Questions will be asked for essay writing, précis writing, and letter writing. For the purpose of focusing on descriptive test on editorials from the main areas of Hindu region, national issues, recent government plans, and Hindu’s major English newspaper.
